Live Simply

Every year since i started to read Sarah Ban Breathnachs Simple Abundance and Brocante home, i have had a word for the year.

This year i have two - Live Simply.

Live Simply to me means: to make authentic choices and to create a life you love – free from clutter of all kinds.

Ideas to live simply:

1. Eat simple - i want to eat more fresh fruit and veg from local farm shops and markets. I want to eat more naturally using fresh ingrediants.

2. Shop simple - Do i need it? do i love it? will be my mantra.
I want at least 50% of things for my home, clothes and gifts to be second hand or handmade.

3. I am going to declutter. Flylady has been helping me with this.

4. I want, as a family, to spend more time together and outside. I have plans for more walks, picnics, and visits to interesting places.

“Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply, Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.''

Whats you word for the year? I'd love to know.

xx

I have never heard of this word for the year and then I come across two blogs talking about it. Not something I have considered before though I love your ideas. We always stop at the Farm shop on the way back from our weekly shop. We ordered lots of meat from them for Xmas. The owners know us now and my son has been known to benefit from the odd pack of sweets slipped to him on the way out. Good luck with living simply. Xx

I haven't got a word for this year as there were just too many for me to choose from right now. I am loving your way of thinking and this is also an approach I am taking this year, already it is making me feel so much lighter and brighter, I love it x x x x

A fantastic mantra to live by! In fact we should all live by it! I am hoping to try to do the same! xx

'make-joy'...when its hard to see positives i need to make it joyful. i agree with a lot you have said- simple joys and healthy eating- shopping locally and from farmer markets. more walks and beach time. take each day gently and less stressy.
make each day matter. keep on with my 'gratitude journal. best wishes huni x

Lovely post and lovely words,I started a similar 'path' last year and this year want to build on it.I think my word this year will also be two words-peace perfect peace-I know that's three but one used twice!
To take time to be quiet,to take time for reflection.(To not have the telly or radio on unless I am really listening/watching for example.)I have noticed a difference already.
Hope that this year brings you all that you wish for.
Warm Wishes,
Callie

I love your live simply ideas! What nice (and noble) thoughts!!! I like the idea of having a word/phrase for the year. I've never thought of doing that before. I'm off to think of my word for 2012 now.....
