For the love of buttons

I have loved buttons ever since i can remember. I used to sit at our dining table with my mums tin of buttons, just looking at all the different types and making patterns with them on the table.

When did you first start loving buttons? I'd love to know.

Todays lovely things:

1) Cream tea with a friend for lunch.
2) Worrying about a freckle on my back but getting the all clear.
3) Wearing a spring vest and cardi to walk around the high street - it was lovely today.

You KNOW I love buttons too - I always have (probably ever since I was allowed to play with them without anyone fearing I might swallow one)! ;-)
Love the photo!!!
Reading your lovely things, I have 3 comments to make:
1) Mmmm - cream tea! We'll be back in the UK at the weekend, and will DEFINITELY be making the effort to find a cute little cafe and treat ourselves to a cream tea!
2) Thank goodness the freckle wasn't anything sinister!
3) On reading your third lovely thing, I initially read that you wore a 'string vest' and was very, VERY shocked. Then I read it again, and laughed at myself! :-)

Oh yes, I can't actually put a date or age to it, but my grandma and mum had such wonderful button boxes (greatgrandma was a seamstress so I guess the collection had started with her, at the beginning of the 20th century). We used to look through them on rainy days.

I'm the same as you, going through my mum's (many) tins of buttons! I get my craft-stash-hoarding genes from her :) Have a fab evening x

I used to love playing with the buttons in my Mum's button tin... picking out favourites and making patterns with them. I need to start letting my children do the same.

Oh Gosh, I have my love for buttons since I can't remember. My mum used to sew and we had a neighbour that was a dressmaker and he has a multitude of buttons. Back in the time next door neighbours were almost family members so it was always ok for me to come around their place. I loved to see my mum and my neighbour sewing. :)

it was my nanny's (my grandma we weren't that posh!) button box for me when I was little - love them - small little things that can make the entire difference to an outfit, and bring a bit of sparkle to life for just a penny or two - perfect. Glad all ok re the freckle

I can't remember when I began to like buttons....but I am always surprised when people love them as much as I do. I've made several button necklaces and people (other women) always comment on them. No cream tea today, but I will be going out to lunch with friends later in the week. Have a good week.
