A tribute

I was tagged by Bekimarie to share my favourite photo.
I have so many photos so it is so hard to choose.

My lovely Grandad passed away on Tuesday, so i have decided to share my Favourite pictures of him from some of my old albums.

Above: My Grandad on his wedding day to my lovely Nan.

Below:My Grandad was such a wonderful man, he did so much with his life. He would have done more, but my nan didn't like to travel and in her last years she hardly went out the house at all.
So my Grandad took plenty of daytrips around the world including New York and Cairo. I had the pleasure in accompinging him to Lapland and Jersey.

Below: My Grandad and Nan with my mum:

With My Mum and Uncle:

With me on my first day in the world. I was his only Grandchild. He bought me a lovely little teddy in this hospital that i still have:

On my christening day with my other Grandad, who sadly i don't remember.
My youngest boy takes both these mens names:

Christmas, i still have this pony!!!

At Lands ends, Cornwall:

For many years we went to Cornwall. I share one of my favourite places with my Nan and Grandad - Mawgan Porth.

Every christmas day was spent with my Grandparents apart from a couple of years when my lovely Nan and Grandad treated my Mum, Dad and me to a holiday in Disneyworld Florida:

Now, this really is one of my favourite photos ever. It is even in an album entitled 'My favourite photos'
I think i was a beautiful princess in a horse and carriage!!!

My Grandad would have been 90 this year - which is a wonderful age to reach, especially for a man. He changed very much 7 years ago when my Nan died and his quality of life had gone down alot in the last 2 years - but i am so glad he got to spend time with his two great grandsons.
I just missed his passing (i was travelling down to the hospital) but i sat with him for a while after.

The things i will remember most about my Grandad:

-Staying at his house and him making me Grenadine and lemonade as a treat.
-Taking me to Littlewoods for breakfast most Saturdays and then going to get the fish for that nights dinner.
- His very scary driving!!
- Him tucking money into my hand and telling me not to tell Nanny!
- Feeding his fish.
-Playing bowles in the garden.
-Going to the Camelot in Chigwell Row for dinner.
-Him sitting in the garden catching some rays.
-His 'medalion' as i called it, actually a gold Libra chain. When my husband first met him about 12 years ago he thought he looked like Del Boy!!
-Walking round the local shops with him for sweets.
- Him taking the paper and a free coffee from his local sainsburys cafe in his last few years - bless him, the staff let him get away with it, they probably thought he didn't have any money. Actually he was quite wealthy.
-Me and Mum seeing him secretly stuffing his face with chocolate coming back from the local shop!!! My Nan was diabetic and used to make him feel guilty for having it.
-Coming to my school when i was about 12 to give a talk on his youth and the war.
-Him gently squeezing my hand and saying i love you, a few days before he passed.

There are no words that can describe what a beautiful post that was. I love looking back at pictures of my Nan. I’m going to start a family tree soon.

With the words you wrote and looking at the pictures I can see what your Grandad meant to you, keep those thoughts and happy times…and he will always be with you.

Lissy, I am so sorry for your loss. He clearly lives on in many love filled memories! How wonderful that your sons will have memories of him too! Another generation! Keep telling the stories of what he was like, what you were like...thats the way that folk and families go on, through a tale, a yarn. No one is truly dead unless they are forgotten!

Much love Mrs B x

I am so sorry for your loss; so clearly from his face in the photos alone, your grandpa adored you as much as you adored him.

I also lost a beloved, very special grandfather recently, I do feel your loss.
